A majority of Albertans support leaving Canada.
Stated by: Asserted by some Alberta independence advocates
Summary
Polling consistently shows the opposite. A May 2026 Angus Reid survey found 60 percent would vote against starting the separation process and 35 percent in favour, with support dropping further, to about 30 percent, on a simpler stay-or-leave question. Earlier 2025 and 2026 polls put support around three in ten. Support is real and concentrated in some regions and among some party voters, but a province-wide majority for leaving is not borne out by the evidence.
